February is National Black History Month

This month is black history month! You should check out our display of biographies on black americans, although you should never need an excuse to pick up a book on black history. There are lots of black americans who have made positive changes in our history.
Speaking of positive impacts on our history, we have recently lost a great american, Coretta Scott King. She was the wife of Martin Luther King Jr. and an activist in her own right, dedicating much of her time to developing and building the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. The King Center promotes non-violence and justice for all people. She passed away on January 30, 2006 from a stroke and heart attack.
